What WebCam Does
WebCam is a local-network streaming app for Android. It lets you stream your phone camera on the same Wi-Fi or LAN using either a browser-based MJPEG stream or an RTSP stream for compatible clients such as VLC or OBS.
- WebCam does not require an account.
- WebCam does not use a developer-operated cloud streaming service.
- Camera video is processed on your device and shared locally on your network.
- In RTSP mode, WebCam can also use your device microphone to include live audio in the stream.
- Stream content is intended for local-network viewing and is not uploaded to developer-operated servers.
Data the App Uses
WebCam may use or store the following data on your device:
- camera access for live streaming and snapshots
- microphone access for optional live audio when you use RTSP mode
- app settings such as stream mode, camera, resolution, FPS, JPEG quality, RTSP bitrate, RTSP port, rotation, mirror, and onboarding state
- an optional password for protecting the local web stream and RTSP access
When a viewer connects to the local stream, the app may temporarily process basic connection details such as local IP address, client type or user agent, requested path, and connection time so it can show connected clients inside the app. This data is not stored persistently or sent to a server.
WebCam does not create a developer-hosted user profile and does not require sign-in to use local streaming.
Permissions
WebCam currently declares these Android permissions:
- CAMERA — for live video capture
- RECORD_AUDIO — for optional RTSP live audio capture
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS — for the foreground-service notification
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE — for active background streaming
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE_CAMERA — for camera use in the foreground service
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE — for microphone use during RTSP foreground streaming
- INTERNET — for the local browser interface and optional Firebase services

Firebase is provided by Google and is subject to Google's own terms and privacy practices. Firebase is not active in debug builds.
Data Sharing
WebCam does not sell your personal data. No camera footage, microphone audio, or user-identifying data is transmitted to developer-operated servers.
